| Smaller vessels had to anchor outside Chennai port |
DP World Chennai Director and CEO, Ennarasu Karunesan, was quoted saying that bad weather, poor road connectivity to the port, inefficient evacuation of containers to and from the port, and limited yard space have resulted in the congestion since last Wednesday.
These circumstances have forced port operator
DP World Chennai to anchor up to five small vessels outside the port.
All vessels are expected to get a berth on arrival from tomorrow onwards.
